When BMG invited me to review Martine McCutcheon’s new album Lost And Found, I was delighted to listen to 10 incredible tracks that qualified her for BBC Radio 2’s album of the week.
Her opening song Say I’m Not Alone has an infectious country/rock vibe that stays with you and is a credit to Martine’s superb vocals and her husband Jack McManus’ emotive lyrics.
Another favourite of mine is the up tempo number Any Sign of Life; highlighting McCutcheon’s amazing range, which profiles her vocals; comparable to the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift.
The UK’s former soap sweetheart has certainly captured her sound again. Her Management reliably inform me that it’s been 17 years since she last recorded ‘Perfect Moment’ which secured her a #No. 1 hit back in 1999.
I say ‘Welcome back Martine – we’ve missed you’. I’m not sure if it’s intentional, but this album appears to be a cathartic timeline of Martine’s life and it’s clear the husband and wife duo have created another hit.
